Seven Years Yours

CONCEPT

“The anger does not stem from what was, but from what I predicted the future to be.”

“Seven Years Yours” is the emotive force of a breakup materialized and abstracted-economized to the most simplistic of forms. Arcs and circles create a sphere, emblematic of a human head; what’s internal and what’s external oscillates back and forth, in and out. Pent up, and finally released, human screams are represented by triangular spears. The screaming spears striking and shattering the mirrored surface of the work: the ability to create and maintain self-reflection rendered moot, the shards of hopes, dreams, aspirations left fractured. The screaming spears are deep crimson-serving as visual representation of blood curdling, decimal shattering rage; rage incarnate via cast acrylic, etched with the last words of a departing note:

No one can say:

That I didn’t need you

That I didn’t want you

That I didn’t love you
